The Flex: Ollie Gordon Just Became Waiver Priority One
The Snap
De'Von Achane left Miami's loss to Kansas City with a knee injury, and Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley said the initial outlook was not optimistic. The exact diagnosis is still pending. That distinction matters, but the workload transfer already happened. Ollie Gordon II took 17 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown, then caught 3 passes for 14 yards. That is 20 touches after entering Sunday rostered in only 2% of Yahoo leagues.[1][2]
Jaylen Wright was inactive with a foot injury, so Gordon was the only healthy back left to absorb the job. He even returned after cramping late. This is not a cute bench stash. Gordon is the top waiver priority of the week, but the ceiling depends on two medical updates: Achane's testing and Wright's foot. Buy the touches. Do not invent certainty the trainers have not given us.[1][3]
The Calendar Says
This is the opening month, and Week 3 closes tonight with Eagles at Bears at 8:15 p.m. ET. That means 0 days until the current week's final kickoff. The next date that matters is Thursday, October 1, when Steelers at Browns opens Week 4 at 8:15 p.m. ET.[4][5] This is the week where usage starts beating draft capital in court. Three games are enough to expose a role, not enough to bury a talented player after one rotten box score.
Around the League
Jeremiyah Love
Arizona finally stopped getting cute. Love handled 26 of 32 running back touches, played 63% of the snaps, ran 21 times for 90 yards, and added 5 catches for 19 yards and a touchdown. The buy-low window did not close. It got hit by a truck.[6]
Brock Bowers
Bowers returned with 10 catches on 13 targets for 116 yards and a touchdown. The deployment was even nastier: 43% target share, a target on 36% of his routes, and alignments everywhere. If anybody can push Trey McBride for TE1 from here, it is the football laboratory in Las Vegas.[6]
Kenyon Sadiq
The rookie posted 7 catches for 105 yards and a touchdown on 8 targets against Detroit. Garrett Wilson cleared a concussion evaluation, so this is not an injury-only spike. Sadiq is a real weekly streamer with upside, not a one-box-score souvenir.[2][7]
Jaylen Warren
With Rico Dowdle out, Warren controlled 20 of Pittsburgh's 22 running back touches, rushing 17 times for 127 yards and catching 3 passes for 49 yards. That is feature-back usage. If Dowdle misses Thursday, Warren stays welded into lineups.[8]
Stock Watch
Climbing
Ollie Gordon II: The efficiency was ugly at 2.4 yards per carry, but 20 touches beat pretty. Miami has no reason to protect him while Achane and Wright are unavailable.[1][3]
Bhayshul Tuten: He has out-touched Chris Rodriguez Jr. in all 3 games, then delivered 15 carries for 73 yards and a touchdown plus 2 catches for 17 yards. The committee label is surviving longer than the committee.[8]
Rashee Rice: After 4 catches for 83 yards in Week 2, Rice followed with 7 for 88 on 9 targets. Patrick Mahomes has his volume receiver back, and the market's early panic is cooked.[8]
Slipping
Omarion Hampton: Hampton played 42% of the snaps, ran only 6 routes on 38 dropbacks, and finished with zero catches. Keaton Mitchell played just 3 fewer snaps, while Kimani Vidal owned the two-minute and third-down work. That is a three-man backfield wearing a first-round price tag.[6]
Brian Thomas Jr.: One target, 46% route participation, and only 37% of the snaps. Rotating with sixth-round rookie Josh Cameron is not a slump. It is a role emergency.[6]
Jadarian Price: A lost fumble sent him to 19 of 67 snaps, just 28.3%, while Emanuel Wilson led Seattle with 9 carries. Price had the opening and dropped it on the carpet.[6]
The Sleeper Shelf
Ollie Gordon II, RB, MIA, ADP not re-verified, NEW: The shelf gets the week's top add after 20 touches in emergency duty.[1]
Oronde Gadsden, TE, LAC, ADP not re-verified, HOLD: The depth chart still offers a path, but 0 catches on 3 targets says the role is not bankable yet.[9]
Adonai Mitchell, WR, NYJ, ADP not re-verified, HOLD: The WR2 volume flashed before the finger issue, but Week 3 brought no fresh proof. Hold the thesis, not your breath.[2]
Demond Claiborne, RB, MIN, ADP not re-verified, HOLD: He managed 3 carries for 1 yard behind Aaron Jones. Still contingency value, still no standalone workload.[10]
Emmett Johnson, RB, KC, ADP not re-verified, HOLD: Kenneth Walker handled 18 carries, Johnson got 6. The handcuff case lives. The weekly-start case does not.[1]
The Flex Call
Make Ollie Gordon II the No. 1 waiver priority, but do not treat the job as permanent until Achane's testing and Wright's foot status are clear. Gordon inherited 20 touches, including every meaningful backfield chance after Achane exited. The volume is actionable now. The long-term monopoly is not.[1][3]
Injury Desk
Fantasy Life reported Achane's knee injury, Breece Hall's quad injury, Justin Jefferson's ankle injury, Jalen Coker's quad injury, and Baker Mayfield's thumb injury after Sunday's games. Hall, Jefferson, Coker, and Mayfield all left and did not finish normally. None had a verified return timetable at filing, so every one stays in the update column, not the diagnosis column.[7]
Call Sheet
Last week's board took two swings. Adonai Mitchell as a Week 3 WR3 looks worse, because the finger issue kept the role from getting fresh confirmation. Oronde Gadsden as a streamer looks worse, full stop: 3 targets, 0 catches.[2][9] No excuses. The process miss was promoting opportunity before Sunday proved the player would actually convert it.
