The Flex: Jefferson Sits, Addison Gets the Whole Menu
The Snap
Justin Jefferson is out Sunday with the ankle injury that kept him off the practice field all week. That strips Minnesota's passing tree down to the branches that actually matter, and Jordan Addison is first in line.[1]
The audition already happened. After Jefferson exited Week 3, Addison finished with 9 targets, 5 catches, 90 yards, one touchdown, a 36% target share and a 98% snap share. His season usage now sits at 90% of snaps, 24% of targets and 34% of air yards.[2] That is not a cute matchup streamer profile. That is an every-down WR2 with the deep work concentrated in his hands.
Start Addison. The first two weeks gave you seven targets and 21 yards. The third gave you the role without Jefferson. Usage just won the argument.
The Calendar Says
This is Opening Month, Week 4, with 1 day until the Sunday slate. The next date that matters is Sunday, October 4 at 9:30 a.m. ET, when Colts-Commanders kicks off in London, four hours before the usual lineup scramble.[3] This is the week to stop grading players by September box scores and start trusting routes, shares and replacement roles. Three games is enough to find the workload, not enough to marry the touchdown column.
Around the League
Puka Nacua
Sean McVay confirmed Nacua will play after missing two games, but also said the Rams will navigate his snap count. He practiced all week, finished Friday without a game designation, and returns to a room where Davante Adams posted consecutive 100-yard games.[5] Start Puka, just do not assume the old target monopoly walks through the door with him.
Miami Dolphins
Jaylen Wright is expected back after full practices Thursday and Friday. Ollie Gordon handled 61 of 73 remaining snaps, 17 carries, 3 catches and 55 total yards after De'Von Achane went down, but Miami plans to open with a split.[7][8] Bench both if you have a real alternative. Sunday is a backfield census.
Braelon Allen
Breece Hall is out, and Allen took the majority of first-team practice reps. Allen has 19 carries through three games, including 10 for 40 yards in Week 1.[1][9] The volume jump is real. Treat him as an RB2, then watch whether Isaiah Davis steals passing downs.
New Orleans Saints
Travis Etienne is on injured reserve for at least four games. Kendre Miller had 6 touches in Week 3, while Alvin Kamara has managed 2.8 yards per carry on 18 attempts this season.[4][10] Miller is the stash. Kamara gets first crack, but this backfield is begging for somebody to run like the turf insulted his family.
Stock Watch
Climbing
Jordan Addison: Jefferson is out, and Addison's last game brought a 36% target share on 98% of snaps. That is the cleanest promotion on the board.[1][2]
Dontayvion Wicks: DeVonta Smith and Hollywood Brown are out. Wicks played 44 of Philadelphia's 50 offensive snaps Monday and now operates as the top wideout.[1][6]
Matthew Golden: Two games with at least 12 targets, 30 total targets, 113 routes and a 26.5% targets-per-route rate. Sleeper status is dead. Golden is a weekly starter now.[4]
Slipping
Ollie Gordon II: The 61-snap Week 3 takeover came with Wright inactive. Wright is back, and the Dolphins are telling you committee before the first handoff.[7][8]
Chris Godwin: At least 32 routes in every game, never more than 4 targets, never more than 46 yards, and a 10.8% targets-per-route rate. Now an undrafted rookie starts at quarterback. Hard pass.[4]
Jacory Croskey-Merritt: Since Week 2, he has 31 carries for 79 scoreless yards, plus 2 catches for 2 yards. The volume is alive. The fantasy upside is on a milk carton.[4]
The Sleeper Shelf
Kendre Miller, RB, Saints, ADP not re-verified, NEW: Etienne's four-game minimum absence creates an early-down lane behind a veteran averaging 2.8 yards per carry.[4][10]
Kenyon Sadiq, TE, Jets, ADP not re-verified, RISING: The 7-105-1 breakout came with a route on 83.3% of his passing-down snaps. Three limited practices and a questionable tag mean check Sunday morning.[1][4]
Ollie Gordon II, RB, Dolphins, ADP not re-verified, HOLD: The 20-touch breakout bought an audition, not the deed. Wright's return resets the split.[8]
Adonai Mitchell, WR, Jets, ADP not re-verified, HOLD: A finger injury costs him a second straight game. The role thesis can wait, your lineup cannot.[1]
Tyjae Spears, RB, Titans, ADP not re-verified, HOLD: He reached full participation Friday but remains questionable with the ankle. No promotion without a clean game-day status.[1]
Demond Claiborne, RB, Vikings, ADP not re-verified, HOLD: Still the upside contingency behind Aaron Jones. No new role evidence, no fake movement.
The Flex Call
Start Dontayvion Wicks in the flex over Chris Godwin and Jacory Croskey-Merritt. Wicks just played 88% of Philadelphia's snaps and now gets the WR1 assignment with Smith and Brown out.[1][6] Godwin owns a 10.8% targets-per-route rate, while Croskey-Merritt has turned 31 carries into 79 scoreless yards since Week 2.[4] The name value is loud. The current usage is louder.
Injury Desk
CBS Sports reports Jefferson, Breece Hall, DeVonta Smith, Baker Mayfield, Adonai Mitchell and Jayden Daniels out for Week 4. Terry McLaurin, Kenyon Sadiq and Tyjae Spears are questionable. Puka Nacua and Nico Collins carry no game designation.[1] NFL's Friday roundup adds that Jaylen Wright is expected to play and Chig Okonkwo is expected back.[7] Set the London alarms now, not at 12:57.
